Read your supplied link; your dead right. Either the law changed or someone in the copywrite office didn't do their job. They should have had a record of it even if it expired. Anything before Jan 1 1978 does have to be renewed or else. I think it's unfair that copywrites last for so long while patents don't. Under those rules there would never be any generic drugs.
