I pretty much assumed that much...Anyway, I checked my FreeDOS stuff this weekend and my diagnostic tool is unfortunately not among the stuff I was able to restore previously. I do know that I have another computer where this is on, but that is in my storage and as I am in the middle of moving (again), I can't get that one out for now.
I do however have various pieces of source code from which I can whip up another test program. Will do so when I get back home later today/tonight.
The basic issue is that this is less of a problem of (Free)DOS, but what exactly the hardware/BIOS is providing and initializing in regards to the serial ports.
