You may need to use the Microsoft KEYB program (from MS-DOS) rather than the FREEDOS KEYB program. While the FreeDOS KEYB program works pretty well most of the time, it is NOT a true equivalent to the MS KEYB program. It sounds like a BIOS compatibility problem, which the MS KEYB program may be able to fix when the FreeDOS KEYB won't.
