echo (or fdcom) seems to indiscriminately introduce a space character
into its output if there is a "." character in the parameter.
Example:

set WATTCP.CFG=C:\FDOS
echo "%WATTCP.CFG%"
"C:\FDOS "

Has anybody else seen this?
