Maybe I don't understand the question, but why would the size expand
to 2GB if you aren't increasing the download size or installed
software? I think you are talking about the install image being 2GB
instead of 512MB, with the remainder left as "writable" space.

For putting the image on a USB fob drive, wouldn't you use Live USB
Creator or some similar tool anyway, so the 2GB thing doesn't matter?
