I have been using MPXP160D, which worked fine with a Media Vision Jazz16 
(emulates a SoundBlaster Pro).

I can add mplayer to the list of candidates, but I was hoping not to 
slog through it by trial and error, wishing that someone knew enough to 
say what will work.
