This applies to FreeDOS in general. However, FreeDOS works for me on all PCs I have available here in the family or in the office. Some have Windows 7or 8 installed and I still can boot and run FreeDOS from a CD. There are far more applications available using GTK than FLTK. But I could port several FLTK applications from Linux to DOS using DJGPP. DJGPP/CWSDPMI make 4 GB memory available so this in no problem when using DOS. However, some Linux applications depend on Cairo, OpenGL, GTK, QT, Ruby, CMake etc. and these cannot be ported without having unlimited time available. Most applications that I wrote using FLTK will run on Linux, Windows/MinGW and DOS. I think making an Xlib compatible library and FLTK available for FreeDOS is an important addition. Developers can make cross-platform applications and thus get a greater user base. Georg ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Year. New Location.
