Do tell THAT to all the "unloadable driver" FREAKS, who
have "beset me" in past years about making UIDE unload!

I am glad that you are "on the air" (running O.K.) with
the UIDE drivers! You can decide if your system works
best using UIDE (goes up to 4-GB caches) or using UIDE2
(about 5% faster with protected-mode). In either case
do try loading them in AUTOEXEC.BAT with --

   DEVLOAD /H C:\...\UIDE2.SYS /S511 /H /D:CDROM1

Using DEVLOAD permits the driver to keep only 928 bytes
of data, entry/exit routines and stack in upper-memory.
All else, including UIDE2's binary-search table, can be
moved into unused HMA space and run from there. As I
noted before, the FreeDOS kernel doesn't make HMA space
available to drivers until AUTOEXEC is run, so you must
use a DEVLOAD command in AUTOEXEC, if you want UIDE2 to
run with FreeDOS from the HMA. Then, you will be able
to "amaze" friends with your only 928-byte disk/CD/DVD/
caching driver -- Just tell them you know a "Sorcerer"!

Best wishes,

Jack R. Ellis
