That is just a shell alias. Type "alias" to see what is set by default. Or just manually "edit c:\autoexec.bat". >> Remove the REM before the line "DHCP". >> >> That means the mTCP DHCP client is started at every boot to update your >> clients network settings. I don't know why Bernd disabled it. I guess it didn't work well for him under VMware. But it works fine in VirtualBox for me. >> Reboot >> >> You should see boot messages like this one: > > your instructions don't say how to 'reboot' .. being a noob, i tried > entering "reboot" -- and it seemed to work -- mentioned something about > "warm reboot" -- and then hung. how can i get passed this point? Normally, Ctrl-Alt-Del would work, but for a virtual machine, that may not do what you want (as the host OS may misinterpret it). Again, I believe "reboot" is just a shell alias to "fdapm warmboot" or similar. > i suspect that chapter 8 also has relevance because i recall seeing the > white-on-black screen shown in the instructions. ... dunno ... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtualization & Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ _______________________________________________ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
