Ok Константин, no problem. Thank you for your reply anyway.
Yes, dot-matrix printers are old. Yes, I might buy a modern color inkjet or laser printer, no doubt about that. I don't have a dot-matrix printer (anymore - I've already had an Epson LX-800 and, later, an Epson LX-300 and, after that, an Epson Stylus Color - the first color inkjet in the market, back in 1995). As a matter of fact, I don't have any printer at all. The last one I had was a (good) Epson Stylus Color 740i, a color inkjet printer, bought in 2000. I kept it until the day that I admitted to myself that its operational cost was not worthy anymore because I barely printed anything. Instead of the waste basket (because it was, after all, still usable), I've donated it. Nowadays, when I need to print anything (which is most rare), I copy it into a pen-drive and go to an Internet Café. You see, the point is that FreeDOS might be useful for people who kept their old hardware for all these years and would still like to use it, not only to play those (good) old DOS games. You know, modern printers aren't compatible with old PCs. Besides, there are many people out there who simply cannot afford a computer, so they could do their jobs on old, donated computers - and printers. That's where multilanguage ability comes in handy and that's why I consider that character tables and codepages are never enough. By the way, cp854 and cp776 are not fictional. I've collected info on them on the web; I just wasn't fortunate enough to find their descriptions. I'm still looking for them. ;-) I'm glad that you liked UR.KL! I also must thank you and Escape for your help! I still have to update documentation, so that I can release new codepage and keyboard layout packs for FreeDOS - you don't even need to ask. It will be my pleasure. (Well, for technical reasons not relevant to the scope of this thread on dot-matrix printers, all revised and all new ukrainian layouts for FreeDOS won't be available on KEYBOARD.SYS but on KEYBRD3.SYS.)
