For the record: * CDmage seems dead: its websites are not working any more * I've tried AVSDiscCreator 5.0.2.516, but as soon as I open fdbasecd.iso, I got the "The file system could not be extracted from the ISO-image." message * Visual-ISO ... well, I've tried but it doesn't seem to let me edit existing ISO images.
So the sentence "install kernel xxxx" is easy to say, hard to achieve.
