There are several ways to transfer files via a crossover cable between two machines running freedos. Here is one I tried today:
_IPX_ 1. Make sure you have a packet driver for your network cards on both machines. Look at <http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/freedos/index.php?title=Networking_FreeDOS_-_Packet_driver_installation> for more info. 2. Get the free IPX driver "ipxpd.com" to implement the IPX protocol over a packet driver. You find it f.i. in this package (which collects packet drivers for various cards and other utilities): <http://vicerveza.homeunix.net/~viric/oldcomps/files/ipx-packet.zip> Unzip it into a directory, f.i. C:\NETWORK\IPX 3. Get the software IPXCOPY (freeware with source) from Oliver Kraus: <http://www.gamers.org/pub/idgames/utils/network/ipxcpy24.zip> Unzip it into a directory, f.i. C:\NETWORK\IPXCOPY 4. Connect the two machines with a crossover cable. You also can use a normal ethernet cable with an adapter. Reboot the machines and start freedos. 5. Load the packet driver on both machines. For instance I type for my card: C:\NETWORK\DFE670PD.COM 4. Load the IPX driver on both machines. For instance I type: C:\NETWORK\IPX\IPXPD.COM 5. On the machine that should receive files start IPXCOPY without parameters. F.i.: C:\NETWORK\IPXCOPY\IPXCOPY.EXE 6. On the machine that sends files start IPXCOPY and name the file you want to transfer: C:\NETWORK\IPXCOPY\IPXCOPY.EXE document.doc IPXCOPY can only send files that are located under its own directory. If you want to transfer subdirectories you have to pass the -s option (see readme). Conclusion: This solution is not very comfortable. On the other hand it works and you don't need to do a lot of configuration and installation. Uli Websites I found useful for the research of this solution: http://toogam.com/software/archive/network/filexfer/filexfer.htm http://www.faqs.org/faqs/games/doom/howto-ipx/ http://www.bookcase.com/library/software/msdos.network.driver.html http://vicerveza.homeunix.net/~viric/oldcomps/software_util.html > Am 13.07.2010 21:29, schrieb Garrison Ricketson: >> I am thinking about, or would like to just connect 2 computers, (laptop) and >> Table top(IBM), both >> have fredos, and boot with freedos, I would like to connect the laptop to the >> bigger computer, but with just a cross over cable,Can FreeDos suport this?
