Hi Kurt, > ...will v1.1 have on-board support for sata drives? > This would be so convenient.--kurt,
All FreeDOS versions use the BIOS for disk access, S-ATA for harddisks is no problem even for a very old version of FreeDOS :-). With free open source drivers such as GCDROM, XGCDROM and UIDE you can also use S-ATA CD, DVD and similar drives now :-) Note that you also need SHSUCDX for ISO9660 format on CD/DVD. For CD/DVD writing (burning) and UDF- formatted disks as well as DVD-RAM, you will need further software such as DOSCDROAST :-). Did anybody already test DOSCDROAST with UIDE or GCDROM and a S-ATA DVD writer? Eric PS: I hope we do not forget to include UIDE/GCDROM! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Register Now & Save for Velocity, the Web Performance & Operations Conference from O'Reilly Media.
