I understand that "drivers" are operating system-specific; but I was wondering if somebody could develop an operating system that could act as an "adaptor" to allow Windows drivers to emulate computer services for DOS, such as, for example running a Sigmatel High Definition Audio on-board laptop sound card to be recognized as an SB-16 sound card.

Other services I have been looking forward for were, emulating dial-up modems with an ethernet internet connection.

Another idea I had was to remake Windows NT as DOS NT.  Part of this proposal was to allow Windows programs to run from the command line, so we can have a "retro" look whilst allowing modern programs to run.
