Hi Spiro,

Robert is right, this is a known problem since version
family 0.84 of our FreeCOM command.com shell...

This happens in FreeCOM command.com version 0.84 from
time to time. We have a BIG problem because nobody can
tell us how to MAKE it happen... You can use the old
FreeCOM 0.82pl3, but then you have no support for long
file names... You could help us a lot by finding a way
to, say, "do things" with command.com which make that
problem happen after only a few minutes. In other words,
if you can explain a method like "if you do exactly
this 10 times, then command.com stops to run any app".

With this information, we could make the problem happen
at the moment while we look with a debugger on our
FreeCOM command.com, so we can see what exactly breaks
and why it stops to run apps, so we can repair it :-).

Hmm okay, some well network drivers, in particular if you have
emm386 (or jemm386 or jemm from japheth.de, which are newer)
running at the same time, could reduce the stability of DOS.
However, I would believe that whatever is broken in our FreeCOM
command.com is simply broken - not "broken because you use a
certain driver". Still it would be nice if you could email your
config and autoexec files :-).

I assume that is AC97, so DOS apps do not use it, only mpxplay does?

With Win2k on a separate partition which is not visible for DOS?

Thanks for your help, too :-).
