Hi Donald, > Is there a way to install the mouse driver while expanded memory > is enabled? I am using Freedos under QEMU.
Sounds as if there should be no problem... > Config.sys contains: DEVICE=C:\FDOS\BIN\EMM386.EXE RAM Is there a RAM option at all? How about for example X=TEST ...? > I have tried both CuteMouse 1.9 and 2.0, with and without the /W flag. You did not say what the /W flag does. But you may want to tell CuteMouse not to load into upper memory / UMB. > In all cases the system hangs as soon as the mouse driver loads. As I have heard about problems with QEMU more often than about problems with for example BOCHS, I guess that QEMU is more interested in speed than in compatibility...? However, it is always a good idea to update: Get a new version of QEMU. Another good idea is to update your EMM386. Use the JEMM386 from www.japheth.de, but make sure to read the explanations of the command line options. You can configure JEMM386 a lot, but safe defaults are probably X=TEST NOHI NOVME NOINVLPG ...
