Hi all,

At first thanks to all for your mails. This shows you are still ready
for a normal discussion, as Eric has already mentioned in the last thread.

That's because I think it would be a good idea to start a new thread for
FreeDOS memory management, which is beside the other free tools the most
valueable part of an operating system.
And please don't warm up the war between Jack and the rest of the
FreeDOS developers, again.

Second only for Jack: I would appreciate if you delete the word "NAZI"
completely from your mind, especially when writing to me.
No one is a NAZI only because you don't like him or only because of
writing a piece of code you don't like ;-) I hope you will remind that
in the future even if this is something that don't fit in this discussion.
And Jack, I know you will read this and that you are monitoring the
freedos-users list and I think this is because you are still interested
in freedos and what's going on and not because you want to see freedos
die. Remember that your piece of software is only usable in a dos
environment and nothing elsewhere.

In my opinion, we have two people that have made great effords in the
field of DOS memory management, Michael and Jack, both developing an
independant piece of code only because none of them wants to talk to
each other. And then we have the rest of the FreeDOS developers that put
gasoline in the fire.
What's that? Imagine you were doing something like this on your job.
That wouldn't do at all. In the end you would have to sit round the
table again to talk to each other or one of you would have to leave.

The goal is to develop an application that fits all needs. This would
only be possible with the help of all participating developers.

I understand Jack doesn't want to have his software called "stupid" and
I understand the rest of the developers that don't like the ignorant way
of Jack and his "closed source".

But for the whole DOS community it would be the best to find a
workaround for this and to have a memory management in the end that
completely replaces the one from microsoft.

Wouldn't that be something great for the upcoming 1.0 release?

That only works if Michael and Jack will work together and exchange
their knowledge. Competition is a good thing but in this case no one
profits from this.

What do you think?
