Hi Johnson, Jack, Michael... > ><that should never have been publicly reposted> > We didn't SELL QHIMEM nor ask the other to quit FD-HIMEM > and FD-EMM386, for what reason we need to keep it private? I don't > understand why you overreacted.
Jack himself suggested to forward the mail to the list, as far as I understood Johnson's mail. What Michael meant is that the mail was too emotional and insulting to be published on the list without adding some comments first. > I want to introduce a good alternative memory manager to the others, > helping the users to solve problems, WHO start complaining this and > that, and speak of "suspicious", "advocate"? The problem started out when somebody had a problem with his DOS configuration and Johnson was very quick with suggesting to replace the memory drivers by QHIMEM and UMBPCI, which was relatively unrelated to the original problem of the user. So Michael was upset that you did not comment on the original problem but instead "advertised" the new memory manager. Even if the problem would be related to a bug in HIMEM or EMM386, it would still be better and more polite to Michael to help fixing the problem in the drivers instead of replacing them by completely different drivers. > Jack and I just want to make FreeDOS better, and "a few people" not > appreciate his hard work, and turn against him. You may have noticed that some important people left FreeDOS because of Jack's unbearable frequent bad mood. Apart from that, Jack is really a good programmer, but I must admit that having to be super-careful to stay friends with Jack is a very high price to pay for being allowed to include his Q drivers in our distro. So the current state is that Jack does not allow us to publish his Q drivers as part of our distro. My personal opinion is that this will also mean that only few people will download his drivers manually - things would be easier if the drivers could be part of the distro. I am only talking about QDMA and QCDROM here, NOT about QHIMEM. I think my previous mail was clear about that: We already have TWO XMS drivers and I see no reason to add a third. Having a QHMBOOT for FDXXMS would be nice but QHIMEM? No thanks. Sorry. Others are free to be happy about QHIMEM, I myself do not need it. > I didn't include Jack reply this time, because his reply really speak > the whole truth, too exciting ... You mean it is too insulting? I got used to ignore insults from Jack, as shouting is a normal way of speaking for him. And be careful with the word truth. Nobody knows the whole truth. But as you call Jack's mails the whole truth, you have to be careful: You must not forget that there are other truths, too. Do not get too biased towards Jack. His is only human, as are most of us ;-).
