I'm not sure PACKET writing affect the CD structure or not.
You mean in the context of "multi-session"? I agree, I didn't think it was multi-session either.
But even Windows have problem access the "DirectCD" disc.
I don't really agree with this. I've been using CD-RW packet writing for a long time and Windows 2000/XP has always been able to read UDF "out of the box" from both DirectCD and also from Nero InCD. Under DOS and Win95/98/NT4 there's a UDF driver from Adaptec you can use.
However UDF disks sometimes go wrong and can't be read/written to by Windows (or anything else) until they're reformatted. Sometimes you also get "hard" errors where the low level format gets messed up.
If he's using a UDF disk, I'm surprised it reads ANY of it under DOS - I thought it needed a driver...
