Hi Richard,
I don't know why you would have these problems. I run it on a wide range
of hardware, both Intel and AMD including Xeon dual-processor servers
and have not had any problems.
However, I've never tried to "install" it as such; I just boot into it.
It would help if you state which exact file you downloaded and how you
turned it into a bootable image and what exact error you get.
I suggest you get an official floppy image (either "odin" or
"installer") from this page:
<http://wiki.fdos.org/Distribution/Beta9SR2readme>
even if you eventually want to use CD, you should get the floppy first
as this will confirm whether FreeDOS works on your hardware.

be applied here, or is the version of FreeDOS on the BootCDs not
equipped to run on Pentiums/486s ?
