Michael details a known outbreak below; it's strange I have not seen
this either on my work network or home computer (yet!). Regarding
Hotmail vs Gmail, I know there's a technique they use against hotmail
where they can simply guess valid addresses by using
[EMAIL PROTECTED], but this does not explain why viruses were
allowed to get through. You'd think Microsoft would have a decent AV
program installed on Hotmail servers, but it could be they did detect
the virus, stripped it out, but then allowed the plain text part of
the message to get through (which is almost as bad!)
I've never seen it on this scale, that's what surprises me.
1200 --> 200 --> 1600 of these mails right now (48% of free 250MB online
storage).
I'm glad that any decent providers do filter :)
