Eric,

Yep; 2035a does the trick. Thanks for your help! And thanks also for looking into our needs via the website - that was really great.

Hi, please try updating to a 2035 kernel, something like 2035bt or 2035cvs-
stable: http://fdos.org/kernel/ (e.g. OpenWatcom, 386 optimized, FAT32),
as your tovatest.com page recommends 560k RAM and 0.5-100 MB disk space
on a 386 or better, with VGA and printer port, that seems to be a good
choice. You could of course select higher requirements, e.g. Pentium-class
(with time stamp counter) and enough RAM for a DJGPP-compiled 32bit C version.

I remember that SOME kernel versions - maybe including plain 2034 and plain
2035 as on http://freedos.sourceforge.net/ - had a bug in the SHELL line
modifications which are triggered by F5/F8.

About SoundBlaster: VIA AC97 with SB16 emulation mode sometimes breaks
network drivers for DOS when you enable it. Just in case... The AC97 part
can stay enabled, though.

http://freedos.sourceforge.net/freecom/packages/082pl3/ xmsswap zip is
probably the best suited FreeCOM, although
http://freedos.sourceforge.net/freecom/packages/TESTING/com082pl3ak/
might become 0.82pl4 eventually.
