Hi, you could get a French version of the FreeCOM command.com ...
this should help most and be little work. CCing Alain, maybe he
has a French command.com around. Otherwise I have to explain you
how to download the "localization toolkit" for FreeCOM and use
that to switch FreeCOM to French language.

PS Alain: Please do NOT send me files by mail. Files are for
homepages, not mail :-).

When you have the new FreeCOM copied to the DOSEMU drive and
the SHELL line in (fd)config, sys points to it, you can do:

set HELPPATH=C:\FREEDOS\HELP
set LANG=FR
set NLSPATH=C:\FREEDOS\NLS
set TZ=Europe/Paris

in your autoexec to tell the other tools to use French, too.
Most FreeDOS programs ignore the LANG setting. So please tell
us for which FreeDOS programs you would be most interested
to have a French translation. You should use FreeDOS ODIN
(linked from freedos.org) to get a collection of all new
versions of all "best of FreeDOS base programs". Copy that
into c:\freedos\bin and add c:\freedos\bin to your PATH.
For HELP, you download and install the HHSTNDRD package as
linked from FreeDOS.org software list -> base.
For NLS, ask Alain to know for which programs there are
already French translations. You can help us to translate
the messages for: choice, diskcopy, fc, find, help, more,
runtime, sort, tree, trch unless
somebody else has already translated them (for many tools only
English, German, Spanish, Russian... are available).

Eric

PS: Dosemu has reached version 1.2 as far as I know. You might want to update.
And you certainly want to update FreeDOS kernel. In DOSEMU, simply copy the
new kernel over the old kernel, sys file...
