would this be a kernel error or when exactly do you get this
error?
could you write the following file to diskette and try
booting?
it is the bootdisk intended for when you are unable to boot
from cdrom.
try the following things please:
Option2 (gets you into FreeDOS right away, you'll see the
config.sys menu)
Then select option 1. It should find the cdrom but be really
slow.
Another thing you might try is option 1, which loads a menu
only for 386+ computers.
there you have the chance to boot freedos (option 1, confirm
entered option by pressing ENTER),
and to boot Smart Boot Manager (option 3).
Please also try Smart Boot Manager. In SBM, select the cdrom
as a bootdevice.
let me know how this turns out. Booting from cdrom is really
the preferred way as long as the
FreeDOS ATAPICDD cdrom-driver is still
in alpha-stage.
