I know this isn't really the list for this sort of thing, but then again if anyone would be the ppl to ask, it'd be you fellas. Basically, I've only ever learned Pascal, and used it for years to code utilities for various purposes of my own. But I've kind of grown tired of how limited it can be, plus the fact that C simply is more common. So I've decided to finally learn some C, and picked up a book that seems to be quite useful. However. For a compiler I've been using Borland's C++BuilderX 1.0, which does compile regular C just fine, but produces really fat, 32-bit code (probably due to me not knowing how to tweak the compiler options correctly).
I'm wondering if there's a C compiler that you'd recommend instead. Preferably with an IDE as I am used to them and would prefer them at this point as I am just learning C, but I don't really care. I'd appreciate any recommendations you might have. You guys are doing brilliant work. I've installed FreeDOS beta9 rc3 (I think it was) and it installed and runs smoothly. Produced some errors during hd format but wasn't verbal enough for me to know what was wrong. Works just fine, though. I'm hoping that at some point I'll be skilled enough at least in some way that might be beneficial to the project.
