I wanted to share an update on the ebook. Editing is going a little slower than expected, because the other volunteer editors were not available. So I'm editing the ebook on my own. If anyone has technical editing experience and wants to help, let me know.
I have finished a rough first draft of the ebook. This is a copy/paste of all the interview responses, and assembled into the ebook by question, where each interview question effectively starts a new "chapter." This should be a good way to organize the ebook. I'll write some additional commentary for each question to set a context. In "draft 2," I may also write some additional text to "weave" the responses into more of a story. But for "draft 1," this is a good start. The ebook project is here: https://gitlab.com/freedosproject/freedos28 You can find the "draft 1" ODT and PDF here: https://gitlab.com/freedosproject/freedos28/-/tree/main/draft1 You can find additional editing notes on page 2 in the PDF, describing planned edits for "draft 2." For example, the table of contents will get updated (it currently shows author names, the updated TOC will likely include just the interview questions as "chapter" titles). I AM LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY REVIEW AND FEEDBACK. Do you see any obvious errors? (I only did light editing in this draft. I'll do closer editing in draft 2 - but don't assume I'll spot errors, let me know if you see any problems.) For this round of editing and feedback, please focus on text, not formatting. If you have a GitLab account, feel free to enter issues in the project's issue tracker. Or you can email me with any fixes or edits (please use the email subject "Edits for FreeDOS-28 book" so I can keep them organized in my inbox, and so they don't get lost). ** If you responded to the interview, check that your text is correct. ** If you responded to the interview but don't see your responses in the draft, I didn't mean to ignore you. Your interview probably got lost in my inbox. Email your interview response to me again and I'll include it in "draft 2." Next step: late August to early September - second draft Goal to publish final version: mid September On Mon, Jul 25, 2022 at 1:45 PM Jim Hall <jh...@freedos.org> wrote: > > Hi everyone > > I wanted to share an update on the FreeDOS 28th Anniversary Ebook.
