Stable (BeagleBone Black 2017-06-20 armhf stable free)
If you create a new user through Plinth, do you get an error?
Created a new user and can log in as that user without any problems.
Perhaps you could investigate if the "slapd" service is running, or
shows any errors.
I ran the following:
me@freedombox:~$ ps -ef | grep slapd
openldap 844 1 0 Aug25 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/slapd -h
ldap:/// ldapi:/// -g openldap -u openldap -F /etc/ldap/slapd.d
me 11933 11476 0 17:13 pts/0 00:00:00 grep slapd
I don't know how to check for any errors beyond that.
