Continuing the notion that the FreedomBox needs a killer app that is useful to all, not just freedom fanatics...
Even if one uses a conventional 'state-subservient ISP' for high bandwidth Internet access, it may still be useful for folk to have a backup/parallel mesh/wimax Internet connection for cases in which the ISP blocks infringing websites, or the user is disconnected for file-sharing. Is this what the FreedomBox could be positioned as? (or maybe it's already intended as such). It doesn't preclude operating as a router too, either. Just replace your router with it, and plug in a Wimax antenna. Cheaper than a 3G modem.
