I likr Eben's "first law of robotics" application for the hardware devices we 
use:

#1 - They don't / must not hurt us.

Seems to be a necessary first step.  Also:

#2 - If you're not the sender or direct recipient, don't look inside at the 
content lest you commit a crime.
