Details:
I got some mysterious errors from an attempt to build for MinGW. Changing
next_free_port_number() parameter name "interface" as "net_interface" caused
them to go away, so it seems like some sort of namespace conflict.
Attaching fix as soon as I get patch with just that change created, and
committing as build fix soon after.
