Windows compilation warns:
../utility/shared.c: In function 'make_dir':
../utility/shared.c:1769:5: warning: implicit declaration of function '_mkdir'
[-Wimplicit-function-declaration]
../utility/shared.c:1769:5: warning: nested extern declaration of '_mkdir'
[-Wnested-externs]
Including direct.h while compiling for Windows fixes this.
