Thanks for writing this (I'm afraid I haven't tried to digest it thoroughly
yet).
However, I don't think it's applicable to S2_3 as-is? For instance, I don't
think "./configure --enable-fcdb=all' works on S2_3.
(That's not to say there isn't stuff in there that could usefully be rescued
for S2_3.)
