Sorry I could not reply earlier. This is unfortunate. I hope with FreeBSD 12.1 things could get better, but I fear that the KPI will not change. I'm using head and did not see any issue, this corroborates what Olivier suggests. I could anyway file a bug report in XFCE bugzilla just to track the issue.
