I've noticed that when VIMAGE is enabled in kernel emulators/virtualbox-ose has to have VIMAGE set as well if installed. Otherwise VirtualBox kernel panics upon starting a VM. Other than that I've never had an issue with it, and quite like the idea of having it out of box.
