Thanks, this will work... but i was under the impression that the snapshots will have meaningful timestamps too. At least this is what is mentioned in /usr/src/sys/ufs/ffs/README.snapshot : 2) Run dump on the snapshot. You will get a dump that is consistent with the filesystem as of the timestamp of the snapshot.
