I also like the design better than the old one; congrats to the people who did it. It's more compact, it fits on one page (no need to scroll), it's clearly laid out and it doesn't look as if done by a hungover sysadmin in his lunch break. And it is viewable even in lynx. Of course, some people will always complain about change. ;) Someone has mentioned popup-menus that one typically expects from the menubar-like area at the top. That might be a good idea. Most commercial sites have that, when they have an element that looks like this, so people might expect the FreeBSD page to work like that aswell.
