jim, i know.  but after release of the -rc2 iso image, -stable is
more than just -rc2.

yes, that is exactly what i am seeking: how to find the date of
sources from which the iso image is built.

i guess, it's not.  then again, i am doing it for my own peace of
mind, not necessarily actively testing the -rc2.
