Then I rebooted once again (which I think I forgot to do the first time). Then I started my VM and it was fine. There are three kernel modules and I find it easier to reboot than to unload and reload all three. I've also sometimes had "odd" behavior and the occasional panic when unloading and reloading kernel modules. I am now running r254456 and all is well. -- R.
