Tried that but probably will need to rebuild the kernel for that to
work. Only KDB stuff is build....

Well the fact that postfix gets a reclamation on libpcre sort of
indicates that it was still running....

But we'll give it a shot.
Compiling a kernel is faster than rebooting. :)
