Yes, I do have sshd_enable="YES" in the jail's rc.conf as well as network_interfaces="" I can ssh in if I use the alias entry in the host's rc.conf. I'm trying another entry Glen just mentioned which is jail_www_interface="vr0" to see if that works for me.
