Well, a reinstall would certainly work, but it's so "Windozy" ;-)
What does /etc/fstab look like now? And maybe what does `mount` say?
One thing is certain .... the new drive would need the FreeBSD MBR (or another boot loader) at the very least; you didn't mention where you were booting from, (but I assume from the new disk?)
Worst case scenario: you get to learn a lot about the bootstrap process. IIRC, that's currently chapter 12 in the Handbook (www.freebsd.org/handbook).
Good advice: backup personal data, regardless of what you choose to do....
