Strangr things: xdm eventually brings up
the gray stippled bg with the "X" cursor;
then the CRT clicks, screen goes black,
and after several seconds it retries.
Seems to be in an infinite loop. Not even
<ctl><alt><Fn> gets me to an alt vtty
long enough to log in and shutdown. I've
had to power down to get out. Both
xorgcfg and xorgconfig have the same
results.
