I just discovered that there is a port of libpcap. Does anybody know if it performs better than the pcap that comes with FreeBSD?
I believe the port compiles PCAP with a larger default buffer size than the PCAP which comes with FreeBSD. It may drop fewer packets under high network load as a result, but there doesn't seem to be a significant difference for most tasks.
