I'm sorry, but that is completely bogus. The syntax of setting
variables on the make(1) command line is either:
make -DFOO
or
make FOO=bar
where the first option sets the value of FOO to 1. The OP's problem
is that he's trying to set a variable for which there is no support in
the port's Makefile.
