If I'm reading OLDCARD correctly, it references GENERIC; so if you're still using a GENERIC kernel, you can:
#unless you're the only user on a standalone pc, boot into single user #login as root cd /usr/src make clean make buildkernel KERNCONF=OLDCARD make installkernel KERNCONF=OLDCARD shutdown -r now
I am running an orinoco silver on a hp omnibook 800ct Durning install, when pccard is enabled choose the default address range, then select irq 3 and the card should be recognized. Mind you this is on 4.9-Release.
Works very nicely for me.
