Well, it does, sort of:
SYNOPSIS
sort [OPTION]... [FILE]...
DESCRIPTION
Write sorted concatenation of all FILE(s) to standard output.
and a bit farther down:
With no FILE, or when FILE is -, read standard input.
I agree that examples would be nice.
