With rsync, it appears that my machine would need to run the server software, and the two servers would run clients. That just wouldn't work.
While one can run rsync as a daemon (which might not be suitable for your purposes given what you've said), it's also possible to invoke rsync via SSH from either the "client" or the "server"...
