You need to install the sysutils/pkg_install port,
I can't find such a port ... either on the system or on ftp.freebsd.org.
then use
/usr/local/bin/pkg_add to add the package. Note, gaim is currently
supported on 4.8, 4.9, -STABLE, 5.1, and -CURRENT only.
