Sophos (from what they claim) and Kaspersky (to a lesser extend) will provide updates on the hour basis (I do automatic update every other hour). That makes a huge difference on th einsecure window.
I can vouch for Sophos doing this. I got an email about the Bugbear-B from Sophos telling me to update my profiles to get protection before I heard about it from anywhere else.
I recommend that you do some automatic download of update (at least once a day). Waiting for the information email may be just a little bit too late :))
We automatically update nightly, and manually apply new binarys monthly.
I was just pointing out that Sophos seems to be on top of things.
