Maybe the "large" option to mount_msdosfs(8)?
Also, something is odd about the first partition starting at 8064.
What does 'gpart show da2' say?
root@warehouse:/backups # gpart show da2
=> 63 30481089 da2 MBR (14G)
63 8001 - free - (3.9M)
8064 30473088 1 !12 [active] (14G)
